The first regular issue of chip cards was in August 1999. The four cards were issued in their own separate cardboard pouches, as illustrated below. The two overprinted cards were issued free to customers purchasing another card of twice the face value of the free card. They were not available by themselves. The $10 Purple card was issued as a limited edition in October 1999 and has Collector Issue 1999 on the reverse, together with the Technicians Test Card, in a folder. Of the 700 Purple cards printed, only 500 were issued.
